Organizations such as the Center of Women Policy Center have been fighting to improve the quality of life of women across the world. The programs developed by the Center for Women Policy consider the combined effect of factors and variables such as gender, race, ethnicity, class, age, and disability (Centerwomenpolicy). The work done by this organization has empowered women in America and across the world. A successful program the organization implemented to promote womenââ¬â¢s health is the state policy on reproductive rights and health. The health and well being of women is a factor that has improved over the years. The feminist movement of the 1970ââ¬â¢s increased the participation of women in the workplace. As a consequence women nowadays suffer from more work related diseases than in the past. One of those diseases is hypertension. Hypertension is a major risk factor for heart disease. Todayââ¬â¢s women are expected to have a job while at the same time raising a family. African-American women are more susceptible to catching hypertension than women of other races. HIV/AIDS is an epidemic that is affects the women population. The symptoms associated with this disease are not as clear cut in women which makes it harder to diagnose the disease than in men.
